Software for people who actually run auto shops.
Pitlane is a product of Auto Shift Media, an Ohio company building software for independent auto repair shops. We make one thing. The customer-facing system every shop runs every day. And we try to make it embarrassingly good.
The why
Why Pitlane exists.
Independent auto shops keep the country moving. They’re the small businesses that actually know the customer, remember the vehicle, and do the work honestly. And yet most of the software being sold to them is a bloated, $500-a-month management suite built for a 40-bay dealer group. Or a generic CRM designed for SaaS sales teams that doesn’t understand what a VIN is.
The result is that shop owners end up doing the customer-retention work manually. Review requests get forgotten at the counter. Declined repairs vanish into a drawer. A customer who hasn’t been back in six months is already at a competitor, and nobody noticed because there was no system watching.
Pitlane runs the front of the shop, and watches the back.
You write the RO, text the customer for authorization, take the payment. Then you close the job, and we handle the review request, the service summary, the interval reminder, the win-back sequence, and the follow-up for declined work. All of it runs in the background, all of it is TCPA compliant, and all of it is priced at less than a single ARO.

How we build
What we believe.
Built for the workflow, not the bookkeeping.
Pitlane handles the workflow shop owners actually live in: CRM, reviews, follow-ups, digital inspections, repair-order writing, mid-job text authorization, payment. The whole job. Drop-off, inspection, estimate, RO, invoice. Links together as one record so the paper trail follows the vehicle, not the calendar. What we haven't built yet is a parts-inventory module or an OEM labor-times database; Mitchell1, Tekmetric, and Shopware still do those today. PartsTech and OEM labor times are on the roadmap to close the loop.
Software that does work, not software that makes work.
Most shop software asks you to log a task, add a contact, tag a lead, set a reminder. Pitlane is the opposite. You close a job, and the follow-up runs itself. Walk-up customer? Add them inline without leaving the new-RO form. Need to print the whole packet for fleet billing? One ⌘P. If a feature requires daily attention to be useful, it's probably not worth shipping.
Your data stays yours. Full stop.
Row-level isolation between shops. Encryption at rest and in transit. AI prompts aren't used to train Anthropic's models, per its commercial API terms. One-click CSV export whenever you want it. We don't sell data, we don't share it with advertisers, and we never will.
