Owner, front desk, and mechanic views explained
Pitlane shows each person the app built for their job. Owner sees everything, front desk runs the counter without the money screens, and a mechanic gets a bay-focused view.
Two separate settings decide what a teammate can do. One is about administration, the other is about what the app looks like.
Governance role: who can administer
- Owner created the account and can do everything, including billing.
- Admin can invite teammates and change shop settings.
- Member can do the work but not administer the org.
Workspace view: what the app shows
This is the "cockpit" a person sees, and it also limits what they can open.
- Owner view lands on the dashboard and reaches everything: floor, inbox, customers, jobs, reports, grow, appointments, inventory, settings.
- Front desk view lands on the shop floor and runs the counter: floor, inbox, jobs, customers, appointments. It does not include reports or billing. Those stay owner surfaces.
- Mechanic view is ruthless focus. It lands in the Bay and reaches only what a tech needs: their bay, the inbox, customers, and the inspections and vehicle screens they launch from a work-card. Everything else bounces them back to the bay.
Why split it two ways
A trusted service writer might get Admin governance (so they can add the new hire) but Front desk view (so their screen isn't cluttered with reports). A shop owner filling in at the counter can flip to a different view without giving up owner access. The two settings don't have to match.
Set both when you invite a teammate.
