Customers & reminders

Import your customer list from a CSV

Bring your existing customers into Pitlane from a CSV. Tekmetric, Mitchell1, Shopware, and plain spreadsheets all work. Duplicates are skipped, and it takes under a minute.

Pitlane's review requests, win-backs, and reminders all run against your customer list. Get your existing customers in first.

  1. Export a CSV from your old system. Where that lives depends on your system (see below).
  2. Open Contacts and click Import CSV. The button's in the top-right of the Contacts page, next to + Add Contact.
  3. Pick your file. Pitlane parses it in your browser, maps the columns, and posts the contacts. The button cycles through parsing, uploading, done. A few thousand contacts import in under a minute.

Where to export from

  • Tekmetric: Reports then Customer Export.
  • Mitchell1: Reports then Customer List then Export.
  • Shopware: Customers then Export.
  • A plain spreadsheet: just download whatever you've been keeping.

What it reads, and what it skips

Pitlane reads first_name, last_name, name, email, phone, and business columns. Headers are case-insensitive and order doesn't matter. Rows without a name get skipped. Duplicates, matched on phone or email, are skipped too, and the existing record is left unchanged.

One rule

Don't import people you don't have permission to text. Pitlane runs review-request and reactivation campaigns against this list. Someone who never bought from you shouldn't be on it. That's also a texting-compliance thing, not just etiquette.
