Set up texting for your shop (A2P 10DLC)
Get a dedicated local number so estimates, reminders, and review requests all come from one trusted thread. Pitlane handles the A2P 10DLC carrier registration for you.
Every text Pitlane sends rides on a number registered to your shop. You set it up once.
- Open Settings then SMS messaging. You'll see a "Not started" status and the setup form below it.
- Fill in your shop's identity. Legal business name, EIN (or SSN for a sole prop), authorized representative, and shop address. Pitlane submits this to Twilio's Trust Hub for carrier vetting. Your tax ID goes over HTTPS and isn't stored by Pitlane.
- Submit for review. Set a preferred area code if you want one, then click Submit for review. Most shops get carrier approval in 1 to 3 business days. Pitlane emails you when the number is live, and the form is replaced by a status panel showing your assigned number.
A few things worth knowing
- The wireless carriers (this is the A2P 10DLC program) require a real EIN for an LLC or corporation. Sole-prop with an SSN works too, but it takes longer to vet.
- Pitlane runs every shop on its own Twilio subaccount and brand. Your sender reputation stays isolated from other shops on the platform.
