Text a customer to approve added work
Mid-job upsell without phone tag. Text the customer, get a signed authorization back in seconds, keep the bay moving. Requires your shop number to be set up.
The tech spots a torn boot while the car's on the lift. You don't want to stop and play phone tag. Text the line for approval instead.
Texting for auth needs your shop number provisioned first. The Text for auth button stays disabled until it is. See Set up texting.
- Add the line. On the RO, click + Add Item and write the new line: type, description, hours, parts. Same as any other line.
- Click Text for auth. Each line has its own Text for auth control on the right of the row. Clicking it sends the request to the phone on file, no dialog. To send several at once, use the Text for auth button at the top of the RO. It opens a short checklist of pending lines and a field to confirm the customer's phone.
- The customer signs on their phone. The text reads: "[Your shop]: we need your OK on a repair. Review: [link]." The link opens one page with the line, the total, and a signature pad. No app, no login.
- Watch the line flip to Authorized. They tap Authorize and the line gets a green Authorized badge, with the signature and timestamp recorded on it. Most replies come back inside three minutes.
